VCAAA UPDATE 3/12/2020 – COVID-19

A MESSAGE FROM THE VENTURA COUNTY AREA AGENCY ON AGING:

Ventura County Public Health announced last night that there is a second presumptive positive case of COVID-19 in Ventura County. The individual traveled to Italy, returned to the United States feeling symptomatic, sought medical attention and was tested in Los Angeles County. That individual is now on home quarantine in Ventura County. The CDC must confirm the test before an official positive result can be concluded. I have attached the latest press release from Ventura County Public Health.

Below are the most up-to-date numbers. You will notice a rather drastic change in the number of individuals tested since yesterday’s e-mail update. As we mentioned, the County is working diligently to stay ahead of a potential crisis both medically and through communications.

  • 77 people tested at Ventura County Public Health Lab
  • 1 positive travel related case
  • 1 presumptive positive travel related case (pending CDC confirmation)
  • 25 travelers in home quarantine in Ventura County
  • There are currently no confirmed cases of person-to-person transmission in Ventura County

Older adults, especially those with compromised immune systems and preexisting respiratory weakness, remain among the most vulnerable populations. It is critical that we provide the best and most consistent information to help combat the spread of the illness.
