Throughout Ventura County, the VCAAA provides home-delivered meals to frail, homebound older adults and people with disabilities, all of whom are unable to easily leave their homes. Some of these people live alone, and may be dealing with isolation, loneliness, or depression.

The VCAAA’s Letters of Support program seeks to provide an uplifting addition to those deliveries. We are asking the community to provide greeting cards (either handmade or premade) with short, positive messages written inside that can be included with their meals.

Since the Letters of Support program began in 2020, residents of Ventura County have provided thousands and thousands of letters to the VCAAA, which have in turn brightened the day for many of the area’s older adults and people with disabilities.

While general cards are needed at any time of the year, holiday-themed cards are also sought at specific periods for the Holiday Greetings Campaign. This includes February (Valentine’s Day), November (Thanksgiving), and December (multiple holidays).

To participate, please send your completed greeting cards to:
Ventura County Area Agency on Aging
c/o Letters of Support
646 County Square Drive, Suite 100
Ventura, CA, 93003

Please do not seal the individual greeting cards. They will be reviewed before being delivered. Cards are welcomed in any language.

Additional do’s and don’ts:

  • Include words of encouragement or generic holiday messages.
  • Do not include personal information (only sign your first name and/or the name of your organization/school, or leave anonymous; do not include an address/phone number/email).
  • No inappropriate or foul language.
  • Avoid overt endorsements of religion or cultural traditions.
  • Do not include logos or business cards.
  • Do not date the cards.
