ADVOCACY
VCAAA Advisory Council members work with the California Senior Legislators to develop and respond to legislation that is of interest to older adults and disabled children and adults; to draw attention of legislators to help them realize the importance and complexity of the issues facing the populations we serve; to increase public awareness regarding aging issues, including adults acting as caregivers for their parents and other older adults, as well as issues facing older adults as they retire and encouraging them toward self-reliance and “healthy aging.”

The VCAAA, as part of the Human Services Agency, operates under the auspices of the Ventura County Board of Supervisors, which has local policy-making authority. The Board gives final approval to the budget, and any advocacy, program development, coordination efforts, or programs proposed for funding.
