The Ventura County Area Agency on Aging (VCAAA) is seeking applications from individuals interested in serving on the Agency’s community-based Advisory Council.  There are currently four vacancies, including three focused population seats for Consumers, Behavioral Health, and Medical Providers, and one seat as a representative for the California Senior Legislature. New appointments are now being considered for two-year terms beginning November 1, 2020.

The representative for Medical Providers will focus on the health care interests of older adults and people with disabilities. The Medical Provider brings the interests of service providers and the professional knowledge of unmet needs in the community and possible solutions. The person selected to represent the interests of individuals with behavioral health needs may include staff of organizations that provide services to, or are affiliated with, behavioral health organizations.  The Consumer population will be represented by an older adult, person with a disability, or family caregiver that has used VCAAA services in the last two years.

The California Senior Legislature representative will serve as part of the statewide body that focuses on the interests of older adults in Sacramento. To access the application and associated forms, visit www.4csl.org.

Individuals with a vested interest in any of the vacant positions are encouraged to apply. The deadline for submitting applications is October 15, 2020.

For more information, visit www.vcaaa.org or call (805) 477-7306.

Older adults and minority representatives are strongly encouraged to apply. The Advisory Council meets once a month six (6) times a year.
