Ventura, Calif. –  The Ventura County Area Agency on Aging (VCAAA) is announcing the debut of the Seminars on Health & Wellness, a series of expert-led presentations designed specifically for older adults, people with disabilities, and caregivers. The first seminar topic will focus on “Healthy Aging” and is scheduled for February 17th at 5 p.m. The event will feature Maziar Goshtasbi, MD as the lead presenter. All seminars will be held virtually and are free and open to Ventura County residents.

Dr. Goshtasbi practices internal and geriatric medicine with Community Memorial Health Systems and is based out of Ojai. He earned his medical degree from St. George’s University School of Medicine and completed his residency in family medicine at Robert Wood Johnson University Hospital, Somerset. Following his time at Somerset, Dr. Goshtasbi pursued a fellowship in geriatrics at Hackensack University Medical Center in New Jersey. Dr. Goshtasbi is a member of the Academy of Family Physicians and the American Geriatrics Society.  He is board certified in Family Medicine and currently treat adults of all ages with a focus on those 65 and older. Dr. Goshtasbi also works as a consultant, evaluating and treating patients with mild cognitive impairment and dementia.

The Seminars on Health & Wellness were inspired by the VCAAA’s Advisory Council’s commitment to making critical resources more accessible to older adults, people with disabilities, and caregivers.

“The expertise in our county to help our aging population and those with disabilities is profound,” said Maureen Hodge, High Risk Manager for Community Memorial Health Systems and member of the VCAAA Advisory Council. “Allowing experts to share their wealth of information for caregivers and loved ones will only enhance their knowledge and ability to handle significant changes as people age at any stage in life.”

The Seminars on Health & Wellness are currently being offered via Zoom. Registration is required to participate. Click here to register.
